snot...a life saver.
I have a cold. I always think its weird to have a cold when its summer. I have a former student that i worked with years ago explain snot to me once. Snot is actually a life saver. When your body gets a virus or infection its always potentially lethal. Your body (sinus) produces the liquid snot to fill the sinus passage ways. This prevents the infection or virus from entering your brain. If it enters your brain it could damage your brain or kill you. Once the virus or infection is no longer a threat, your snot drains out. Sore throats are sometimes a result of the draining, and inflamed sinus passages from the work can result in a sinus infection. The throat and sinus infection however are minimal side effects when you consider the possibility of brain damage or death. So the bottom line, while snot is nasty and annoying, its a life saver.

Hi Matt, it's actually Carrie - not Chuck - but the computer is telling me that I'm currently posting as "Chuck Strawn" and I don't know how to fix that, so I'll just pretend to be Chuck for a minute.
I just discovered your blog. Actually, Mark Bitner mentioned it in his last email. I love it! It reminds me a bit of Chuck's blog (http://ccstra54.blogspot.com/), which I also enjoy reading although every now and then I also feel the wifely duty to encourage him to keep it rated PG. :)
I've enjoyed reading about the things you've been thinking about. I agree with your thoughts about worship and the church (I realize that was a way long time ago, but I'm just getting caught up). We get so caught up in the particulars of the 'service' that we often miss out on the real purpose of the church's existence. Growing up in the church I noticed that by the time we incorporated "contemporary" music into our services, the "contemporary" music was already at least 20 years behind the times. So even when we try to stay current, we still end up in a time warp. Fortunately at the end of the day, the church service and the music that we use is not the most important thing. If we can really BE the church, then what happens on Sunday morning is icing on the cake rather than the main meal.
BTW, I remember you telling me about snot on one of my early trips to Philippi. I couldn't remember the particulars, but every time I have gotten a cold since then, I've thought, there's something about this that's good for me. I can't remember what, but Matt said so...
I've added you as a link from my blog...now your legit.
kisses to the family.
