snot...a life saver.
I have a cold. I always think its weird to have a cold when its summer. I have a former student that i worked with years ago explain snot to me once. Snot is actually a life saver. When your body gets a virus or infection its always potentially lethal. Your body (sinus) produces the liquid snot to fill the sinus passage ways. This prevents the infection or virus from entering your brain. If it enters your brain it could damage your brain or kill you. Once the virus or infection is no longer a threat, your snot drains out. Sore throats are sometimes a result of the draining, and inflamed sinus passages from the work can result in a sinus infection. The throat and sinus infection however are minimal side effects when you consider the possibility of brain damage or death. So the bottom line, while snot is nasty and annoying, its a life saver.
